Over the last four years (and thanks to the joint efforts of Simon A. Davis, President and CEO of Falcon Waterfree Technologies and Andrea Chase, Marketing and Product Director) we have been posting about how proud we are to be a BCorporation.
But, why should it matter to you? While we do not make any organic, fair trade or non-GMO products that you will find on your local grocery shelves, with our technology, you are still supporting water conservation and its sustainable use, and in a world where everyone claims to be “green” and “eco-friendly” it is nice to have some authentic validation of our efforts. After all, who decides what’s local and environmentally friendly?
A few years ago, it was almost impossible to decipher between the real deal and greenwashing until the nonprofit group, BLab, decided to introduce the B Corporation Certification.
Getting certified is tough. The certification requires for-profit businesses to provide measurable social, environmental and financial commitments for the benefit of everyone and not just traditional shareholder-centered governance philosophy. The analysis includes company governance practices, transparency and engagement practices as well as a demonstration of how our products and services improve the lives of our customers and our community.
Some of the ways that Falcon Waterfree is giving back to the community is by matching $10,000 in donations to the St. Michaels Special Needs School, giving running water to a Navajo family who previously did not have access to clean running water and a restroom, and donating water-efficient fixtures in every restroom at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children.
So, when you purchase our technologies through one of our many international partners -such as Sloan, here in North America, VitrA in Turkey or Ideal Standard in Europe- you are supporting a company that has a strong commitment to its environmental and social stewardship. You are part of the movement that uses business as a force for good and where no greenwashing takes place!
And, given the current political landscape, it’s up to us, businesses and customers of BCorps like YOU, to help us fulfill our commitment to sustainability.
