World Toilet Day



Commode, potty, John, loo, lavatory, the office, the porcelain throne, or simply, the toilet. No matter how you call it today is the day to celebrate and appreciate how important a well sanitized bathroom is! Many of us take for granted the easy access to a clean toilet and forget that in many parts of the world it is not the case. This is why the United Nations has designated November 19th as World Toilet Day and has declared equality and dignity the theme of this years celebration.

According to the UN, “of the world’s seven billion people, 2.5 billion people do not have improved sanitation.” Even though sanitation is a world priority, there are still many nations that do not have access to a toilet. Jan Eliasson,UN member became a Millennium Development Goal 7 advocate, aiming to reduce by half the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.
