Nothing screams winter like partaking in some excellent champagne powder at your ski resort of choice. Whether you snowboard or ski, beginner or advanced, there are plenty of resorts to choose from. But did you know that you can choose your travel destination based on sustainability efforts?

For the past few years, the ski industry has adopted an Environmental Charter to implement sustainability in their daily operations and have quickly become a popular topic on the media. From the way they design trails and associated facilities, to water and energy management, ski resorts around the country are becoming more and more committed to minimize adverse environmental impacts.

We love the idea of sustainable slopes especially when it comes to water management.  Water is an important resource for ski areas since it is used for snowmaking in the winter and maintaining landscape in the summer season. With the commitment to conserve natural resources, resorts have optimized water usage with technologies such as low-flow toilets, waterless urinals and wastewater treatment.
