SPOTLIGHT: BALTIMORE RAVENS M&T BANK STADIUM

Welcome back! It is time for our Spotlight series. This space is reserved for highlighting all the great things our partners and customers are accomplishing worldwide. These companies, institutions and venues are as much a part of Falcon’s journey to conserve, as our employees.  Let’s get right to it, shall we?

On November 2013, the M&T Bank Stadium received a LEED certified Gold designation from the US Green Building Council. M&T Bank Stadium is the first outdoor professional sport stadium in the US to receive USGBC’s gold rating and we are proud to be able to add the 13 points per urinal to this certificate!

LEED serves as a way to recognize communities and companies who want to limit their environmental impact and encourage sustainability. It is a program that provides third-party verification of green buildings based on points, and it’s no joke to be able to earn a Gold certificate!

According to the Press Release issued by the Ravens, here are a few of the sustainability projects taking place in the stadium:

They achieved 43% water reduction with the installation of over 400 waterless urinals (Go Falcon!) and water-efficient restroom fixtures. The stadium also remains 27% above national average in energy efficiency. They offset 123,070 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, in addition to recycling 31% of the waste created. Above all this, the management maintains a friendly operation programs used in pest, landscape and hardscape programs throughout the stadium grounds.

The commitment to environmental excellence continues as a forefront for M&T Bank Stadium. As the Raven’s Vice President of Stadiums Operations said last November, “we will continue to look for ways to make a difference and become a leader in our community in sustainability.” We are glad to, once again, be a part of this great initiative!
